Bayeux

Bayeux is a bustling, beautiful small city. It goes back to Julius Caesar. The Bayeux Tapestry was the main reason for this visit & was more complex, engrossing and beautiful than I ever imagined (no photos allowed) There is a small un-restored chapel by the entrance & I liked seeing how the walls & columns were painted. I wasn’t sure what to expect of the cathedral, but it is the lightest, airiest-feeling cathedral I have seen. I enjoyed the St Nicholas fresco cycle.

Those builders were genius! Could you have stayed there for days? Just looking at that interior. Oh, my gosh!

It was the best feeling interior, the most graceful.
